About Biker Rags

THERE’S A SIGN….

About ten years ago, (how time flies), I made a 4 foot x 4 foot canvas sign. I had some plan for it but never got around to painting it. Then when we expanded Pamo’s World at the Mega Peddlers Mart, the canvas was waiting for me to paint a Pamo’s World sign!

And here’s how it looks hanging in it’s new spot….

Jeff videoed me talking about Pamo’s World yesterday….

Until next time!

EXPANDING AGAIN AT THE MEGA MART

Here it is, the beginning of April, and we are expanding Pamo’s World once again at the Mega Peddlers Mart. Perhaps it’s because we enjoy painting so much!

Pamo’s World loves color!

Looking forward to filling it up with more stuff!

We’ll be keeping our current location in the Mega Mart as well….

We recently sold the lovely Goodrich treadle sewing machine….

Goodrich treadle recently found a new home.

She is a beauty and I’ll really miss her! But I’m glad she will be well loved by another. Goodbye iron lady- enjoy your new home.

We recently added a Singer 66 Red Eye in a beautiful oak treadle cabinet….

That’s all for today. I’ll keep you posted with more updates. Happy spring!

A LOOK BACK AT PAMO’S WORLD IN 2018

As we enter into our fifth month at the Mega Peddler’s Mart, I’m amazed at how fast time flies and how much fun we’ve had. Now that 2019 has arrived, I thought I’d share just a few Pamo’s World moments from 2018.

First up is LESSONS LEARNED:

My first lesson learned was the importance of doing research before putting an item up for sale….

Many vintage Singer enthusiasts find the Singer 221 Featherweight to be the most desirable model on the market. When we first opened Pamo’s World, I decided to put my Featherweight from my personal collection up for sale. I had had it for over ten years and was ready to move it on to the next collector.

We priced it and I didn’t think much more about it. The next day, I started looking on Ebay and realized I had priced it for about half the going rate. I decided to reprice it when I got a chance… but of course, some savvy collector snatched it up. I’m sure they will tell the story for years to come how they got their Featherweight for a steal of a price!

My second lesson was that not all sales are worth the effort….

When we first opened Pamo’s World, I had a beautiful vintage pink Kenmore up for sale, with the original carry case and all the original accessories. I knew that a vintage Kenmore Sewing Machine collector would just go gaga over this machine.

And I was correct! One collector happened to see the machine on Facebook but lived a few states away. When she asked if I’d be willing to ship it, I thought for sure once I quoted the shipping cost, she’d decide to make the drive herself… I think she was smarter than me! She accepted my quote without a second thought and I was tasked with the job of packing this 48 pound machine into a multi padded box.

I ended up spending half a day packing and shipping, and then a few sleepless nights wondering if I did a good enough packing job. The machine and accessories all arrived safely and the buyer was very satisfied. But for me, all the worry and stress about shipping this piece just wasn’t worth the sale.

2018 also gave me the OPPORTUNITY TO BE CREATIVE.

While shopping for items to sale in Pamo’s World, we came across this large structural lamp with a dirty stained lamp shade. The price was right, so we bought it. The problem was the shade would have to be replaced in order to resale the lamp.

I got out my trusty paint and painted the shade. It turned out horrible. So with nothing left to lose, I tore off the fabric.

Without much of a plan, I began playing around with supplies I have in my fabric stash.

And here’s the finished lamp:

The lamp sold soon after. Yay! That was a ton of fun to do.

And the last moment from 2018 that I’d like to share is this….

We found this Davis Vertical Feed treadle sewing machine a while back. I spent several hours cleaning her and getting her ready to sell. But then I realized that I wanted to spend more time enjoying this antique primitive beauty. Jeff was gracious enough to find a home for her in our front sun room. It’s a machine I probably never would have been privileged to be around if we didn’t have Pamo’s World.

2018 was a good year. Here’s to 2019!

Happy New Year!

A Mega Mart Update

We’ve been busy expanding once again at the Mega Peddler’s Mart. So of course that meant more painting. Biker Rags now has a more open space, all freshly painted and looking good.

Pamo’s World, which use to be right across from the Biker Rags booth, is now on the other side of the Mega Mart, freshly painted of course.

It’s a lot of work but also a ton of fun.

Until next time,

Pamo
